Family: Wife - Junior 1970 LHS Grad , Shane 1996 LHS Grad , Lora 1998 LHS Grad , our son-in -law Scott Hardesty and our grandson Hudson Timber

Coaching Experience: 1975-1978 Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Football Coach @Pratt Community College , 1978-1985 Assistant Football Coach @ Wichita State University , 1990-1998 Assistant Football Coach Lawrence High , 1990- 1996 Assistant Baseball Coach , !998- to present Head Football Coach @ Lawrence High , 1997-1999 Head Baseball Coach @ Lawrence High , and 2007-2009 Head Golf Coach @ Lawrence High.



Favorite Thing About Coaching at LHS: The opportunity to coach the greatest kids in the world.

Goal for the Season: Win our first game at our new stadium on on September 4.

Family:Wife Cori, 2 daughters Alexis-14, Jaycee-12

Coaching Experience:5th season at LHS. Previously at Free State 2001-2004.

Favorite Thing About Coaching at LHS:The truly outstanding, professional coaches and people I get to work with everyday like Martha Oldham!!

Goal for the Season:Get better as a coach, team and players everyday.

Anything Else We Should Know:I am a big Simon Cowell fan!!

Chuck Holley
Mike Linebackers

Hometown: I was born and raised in Glen Cove, New York (which is on Long Island - one hour from NYC)

High School:
I graduated from Glen Cove High School

College and Playing Experience: I graduated from Kansas State College of Pittsburg (now called Pittsburg State University) Pittsburg, Kansas. The famous Gorillas. Played one year of football (had to work)

Family: I come from a family of thirteen children (six sisters & six brothers -- I'm the middle #7). Married and three step children (2 boys & a girl)

Coaching Experience: Seven years as an assistant under Nanny Duver at Central Jr. High; starting my 31st year at Lawrence High School as an assistant coach serving under Bill Freeman, Dick Purdy and Dirk Wedd.

Favorite Thing About Coaching at LHS: Working with some of the best people in coaching and education. Especially the kids.

Goal for the Season: As always, a winning season with a state champioship. We need to win one for the kids and Coach Wedd.

Anything Else We Should Know: There are tons of memories that include coaching at Haskell Stadium, Being the pressbox while Hank Booth broadcast a Lion's game and the anticipation of playing in our own stadium.


John Reed

Hometown:I'm from Fort Scott, Ks.

High School:
I went to high school there, played football there and coached football for 3 years there.

College and Playing Experience:Graduated from KU in 1970. I was a walk on there in 1968

Family:My wife is named Maggie

Coaching Experience:I've coached for 39 years---3 at Fort Scott, 7 at Shawnee Mission Northwest 23 at Shawnee Mission East and this is my 6th year at LHS.

Favorite Thing About Coaching at LHS:I love the football tradition at LHS and the student athletes are highly motivated.

Goal for the Season:Our goal is to always win the State Title

Anything Else We Should Know:My hobbies are riding horses, wt. training and my grandson.

Don Durkin
Head Freshman Coach

College and Playing Experience: Fort Scott Junior College, Pittsburg State University. Two year starter at Safty and Captain at Pittsburg State.

I graduated from LHS in 1981.

College and Playing Experience:University of Kansas Graduate. One year of Football

Jamie Resseguie

Hometown: Lawrence, KS

College and Playing Experience: Played football and Graduated from Baker University

Family: Oldest of 4 syblings

Coaching Experience:I am curently entering my 4th year coaching. I have spent the previous 3 years at Mill Valley High School.

Favorite Thing About Coaching at LHS: Working with an experinced coaching staff.

Goal for the Season:To continue to improve and get better throughout the season.

Anything Else We Should Know: I have a Boxer named Tyson that I spend most of my free time with.

Jeff Melcher

Hometown: El Dorado KS


High School:El Dorado High School

College and Playing Experience: Played football four years at El Dorado, at the Varsity level only 2 of those years. I played running back and defensive back at El Dorado High. Wlaked on at Butler Countt Community College for a year.

Family: I have a wonderful wife named Kristen and a new little one named Aubrey. Aubrey's was just born on August 12th, 2013. My parents and a sisiter still currently reside in El Dorado and I have a brother that lives in Marysville KS

Coaching Experience: I have coached football here at Lawrence High for a total of 6 years. I have also coached at West Jr. High for 3 years.

Favorite Thing About Coaching at LHS: I like how Lawrence has a rich tradition in football. I come from a school that does not have much tradition, so it is really neat seeing how the school and city back their football team

Goal for the Season: Keep improving day in and day out!
